Sage Testing
SAGE is an online adaptive test that will more accurately measure the full range of student grade-level knowledge and skills. SAGE is not solely a multiple-choice test. SAGE requires students to write, construct math equations, build graphs, and even conduct experiments on the computer. These tasks require students to apply knowledge consistent with Utah's new standards.
This year your 4th graders will be required to take the Writing, Language Arts, Math, and Science SAGE Tests. We will be taking the Writing portion in February and the Language Arts, Math, and Science sections at the end of the school year, (end of April – May). Students and parents have access to the SAGE Portal where there are practice tests that can help prepare your student.
The SAGE Test require students to do more then just select an A, B, C, or D answer. Students will be required to type, drag, build charts, make equations, select all the answers that apply, etc. It is important that students visit the sage portal and practice with the tools that the test will require.
We will be practicing for the SAGE test and visiting the sage portal in our classroom. I encourage parents to log on at home with your student to help familiarize and explore the practice tests together.
